Adoption of ICT-in-Agriculture Innovations by Smallholder Farmers in Kenya

Agricultural development is a powerful tool for raising incomes deprived population in developing countries, such as Kenya and to support livelihoods by ensuing food security. This has seen the agricultural sector position itself an engine sustainable economic growth Kenya. However, profile of farming community mainly female smallholders who are illiterate that practice traditional methods. Therefore, there urgent need examine emerging digital tools can these farmers, adopt accordingly meet their needs. In this regard, paper seeks explore willingness ability smallholder farmers accept ICT-in-agriculture innovations towards supporting farm operations, improving productivity, providing readily accessible market produce. Specifically, study identifies factors influence farmers’ decision on ICT adoption agriculture, examines how perceived innovations. The was carried out Siaya County, with sample 100 farmers. A simple random sampling used, questionnaires used collect data. findings from indicate cost, illiteracy, skills, quality information gender some key choice ICT-in agriculture adopt.
